For our office directly at the IZB Campus in Munich/Martinsried we are looking for a Senior Fermentation Scientist or Engineer (m/f/d) who is experienced in the development of industrial microbial fermentation processes.

For this position you will perform the following duties:
- Plan fermentation development across multiple projects to maximize the use of our resources and our speed to market
- Plan the characterization of engineered microbial strains by fermentation
- Optimize fermentation processes to maximize productivity, including designing of feeding strategies and control circuits
- Instruct technicians in hands-on setup of fermentations
- Analyse and document experimental results
- Coordinate work across internal and external partners to achieve milestones, reliably document and store data and results and clearly communicate updates
- Utilize your experience and knowledge to contribute to Insempra's strategic direction in fermentation development
Your profile:
- 3+ years of hands-on industrial experience in planning and running microbial fermentations (lab scale) of fungal/yeast and bacterial strains
- Expert in microbial physiology, metabolism, medium optimization and fermentation processes development
- Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Chemical engineering, Biotechnology, Microbiology or related field or equivalent experience
- Proven critical thinking, problem-solving skills and ability to work flexibly in a dynamic startup setting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) are important as we are a small team and will be working together closely daily
