Q&A with Marius Schneider, Head of Legal

Hi Marius, tell us a little about your background

I studied medical and pharmaceutical law in Marburg, Germany. As I was really interested in this specialised field of law I was happy that the university of Marburg was one of the first universities in Germany to offer this specific focus. I spent my legal clerkship at different stations, among others at the German Federal Ministry of Health in Berlin and at the University for Administrative Sciences in Speyer.

After my clerkship I started working for start-ups in the food/nutrition as well as personal care sectors. That gave me the opportunity to broaden my knowledge and influence beyond solely legal aspects and help structure organisations to work with compliance and with risk-management in mind.

What is your role at Insempra?

I am Head of Legal at Insempra – working cross-functionally with all administrative and operational teams within the organisation. I see my key responsibility as being the translator and advocate between science and legal to help grow the business for the benefit and success of the organization as a whole.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

What I think is really exciting, is being in such a young organisation and being able to influence strategic decisions beyond the scope of my legal responsibilities. Understanding our scientist’s vision and needs and identifying solutions within legal frameworks is challenging and certainly one of my favourite parts of my work.

Which company values resonate with you the most?

I am a great friend of win-win-situations. Insempra’s mission to develop more sustainable products for a better future is an absolute win-win not only for the planet, but for consumers and businesses alike. It’s highly motivating to be working for a business with a vision that has the potential to make the world better and to join an inspiring and talented team on the way to making the vision reality

What’s unique about working for our organization?

I like the fact that Insempra is a fast growing start-up. As legal counsel I really have the opportunity to influence the direction the business is headed and starting with a clean slate that I can create, gives me a lot of opportunity to find innovative solutions to make sure the business is set up for success from a legal and organisational standpoint.

What are you working on right now?

I’m working on setting up the code of conduct for the business and company needs. This means defining a general understanding of our core principles of how we conduct business, reflected in various guidelines. Each specific department within the organisation faces different challenges and the code of conduct I am developing, will guide them through solving any issues that might arise in their work.

Thank you Marius!
