For our office directly at the IZB Campus in Munich/Martinsried we are looking for a Research Associate (m/f/d) who will strengthen the team working on fermentation development and wants to make a difference in the world.

For this position you will perform the following duties:
- Develop and optimize fermentation processes for a variety of our products at laboratory scale (with up to 10L fermenters)
- Optimize media composition for biomass or product yield and analyze and report the results
- Support scale-up to pilot scale and tech transfer to CMOs
- Scout and evaluate new fermentation technologies, methods and equipment
- Guide and coordinate with our Technical Assistances to execute the practical work.
Your profile:
- Minimum of 2-years’ experience in a fermentation development. For example, in food, or specialty chemicals. Ideally industrial related experience.
- Successfully completed Msc/Ph.D. studies in microbiology, bioprocess engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with lab scale fermenters, data handling and analysis.
- Experience with DoE methods are valuable for this position
- Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills, a love of learning and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic start-up setting
